The Reggio Emilia Philosophy

The Reggio Emilia philosophy is a child centered approach to early learning that views children as capable, creative and naturally curious. Rather than relying on predetermined activities or directing children toward a single outcome, it encourages learning through open ended play, meaningful experiences, creativity and connection with the world around them. The environment itself is considered an important part of learning, thoughtfully designed with inviting materials, natural elements and opportunities for children to investigate, create, collaborate and express their ideas in their own unique ways.

Join Our Weekly ‘Discover’ Co-Op

Discover is Willow & Wonder’s child led enrichment program created for homeschool and alternative learning families looking for meaningful opportunities to learn, create, investigate and connect.

Through hands on investigations, sensory exploration, process art, early STEM, literacy, movement and collaborative projects, children are encouraged to follow their curiosity and become active participants in their own learning.

FAQ’s

  • Willow & Wonder is a nature inspired play and creative studio for children ages 1 to 5. We offer open play, sensory experiences, process based art, music and movement, enrichment classes and special workshops in a thoughtfully designed, Reggio Emilia inspired environment.

  • Open play gives children the freedom to explore our studio at their own pace. Rather than structured activities or one way toys, our space encourages imaginative play, movement, creativity and hands on discovery.

  • Reservations are encouraged to help us maintain a comfortable, intentionally uncrowded environment. Walk ins are welcome when space allows.

  • Each open play session is 90 minutes, giving children plenty of time to settle in, explore and play without feeling rushed.

  • Open play is $22 for the first child and includes one accompanying adult. Additional siblings ages 1 and older are $10 each.

  • Yes. Willow & Wonder is a parent supervised play studio, not a drop off childcare facility. A parent or responsible caregiver must remain on site and supervise their child throughout their visit.

  • We believe children do not need constant screens, flashing lights and overstimulation to have an incredible play experience. We intentionally gravitate toward wooden toys, natural materials, open ended play and thoughtfully selected products that can inspire something new each time a child interacts with them.

  • Absolutely. We recognize that children experience and interact with the world in different ways. Our goal is to provide a welcoming, lower stimulation environment where different personalities, abilities and ways of playing are respected.

  • Our sensory workshops are rotating themed experiences designed to engage little hands and curious minds through texture, color, movement, nature, art and imaginative play. Themes and activities change regularly so there is always something new to discover.

  • Yes! Willow & Wonder is available for private birthday celebrations. Families can enjoy exclusive access to the studio with options to incorporate sensory activities, creative experiences and other special touches.

  • For cleanliness and safety, children and adults entering designated play areas may be required to wear grippy socks. We recommend bringing a pair for everyone in your group.

  • Covered drinks for adults and kiddos are welcome in designated areas along with snacks. Food policies may vary for everyday open play, workshops and private celebrations to help us keep the studio clean and safe for all of our little explorers. You must clean up after yourself.
